Inescapable Fate

Cocktail writers such as Jennifer Fiedler and Camper English have defined a new category of the tiki genra: Goth Tiki. It’s a trend illustrated with themes such as voodoo, zombies, and skulls. But to be honest, the seed was planted from the very beginning with Donn Beach’s original Zombie cocktail. The genre is as much about the imaginings of strange mysterious and distant tribal cultures, mythology and magic as it is visions of the easy life in paradise.

Inescapable fate celebrates the gothic in tiki. The cocktail is an elaboration of the classic planter’s punch. It’s modified with falernum, which makes it a daisy (a class of sour cocktails modified by a liqueur). Trevor Foster’s incredibly detailed ceramic skull mugs is the perfect fit.
