An early version of The Momsen with sugared rim. Note: this version lacks foam or frothiness because egg whites were omitted.

The Momsen is a rift on the Lemon Drop. It’s also an example of how recipes evolve. Since its conception two years ago, it has gone through several incarnations after numerous experimentations. Most changes have been simple changes to the proportions of the ingredients. The Momsen initially had a sugared rim, taking inspiration from the crusta, an eighteenth-century cocktail. The rim is absent in its current incarnation on the menu of Hard Truth Distillery’s Tours and Tastings Center. Throughout the summer of 2023, this cocktail was often number three or four in sales.

Egg whites give this cocktail a nice frothy head, but they’re optional.

Note: on occasion that we run out of flower petals, we’ll garnish this cocktail with a single mint leaf.
